TPT Cyber Sale and Interventions

The Cyber Sale seems to be doing very well over at TPT!  I get so amazed at some of the wonderful ideas the teachers on the site have and are willing to share.  If you haven't dropped by yet, I would def suggest doing so before the sale ends.  www.teacherspayteachers.com is the place to be!

During the sale I have been very pleased to see how many downloads I have for my Santa Freebie!  He is the cutest little guy!  I haed a lot of fun making him, maybe I will make more.  It just seemed like a fun way to get some of my students to remember a few sight words we have been working on.  Here is what he looks like:

Cute, huh?  If you would like to download the little guy, you can get him for free from my TpT Store at http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Tanya-Sisseck.

In addition to my Santa picture, I also made a new Working with Words and Sentences packet this past weekend.  It's a packet of 25 worksheets with repetitive directions to help our friends in Kindergarten recognize the difference between letters and words.  Although most of my class has this under control, I have a few friends that need just a little extra boost.  I decided that the packet could be an intervention strategy!  Each page has a different sentence.  For each sentence, the student has to count the words and letters, and identify vowels, sight words, etc.  I started using it in my class this week, and I really think it's going to work wonders with my little ones!

My Working with Words and Sentences packet can be purchased here.  Well, I am off to grade some homework!  Be back soon!!

Shabby Blogs

How excited was I to discover Shabby Blogs yesterday?!?!!  I had no idea that changing the background on my blog would be so easy!  I was actually starting to consider paying someone to do it for me as I was so clueless.   Lucky for me, I stumbled on to someone talking about Shabby Blogs on one of the TPT forums, and decided to check it out.  First - the blog for Shabby Blogs is beautiful!!  Secondly - the backgrounds are completely free!  Yay for my pockets!  Thirdly - There is a huge selection.  So many choices to browse through!  All I had to do was click on the back ground I liked, copy the code, go to the layout option on my blog, click gadgets, click on the button that says HTML/Javascript, paste the code, click done.....  And DADA!!  You have a new background!!  Took me less then a minute and I am usually so technically impaired.  So if you have a blog and are looking for a new design, I would totally recommend visiting www.shabbyblogs.com.  Happy decorating!!

Enter the Holiday Season and TpT Cyber Sale

Today marks the first day of my official Thanksgiving break from school!  And I know I promised to put up a picture of Tall Paul Pilgrim, but I totally forgot to get one with out a student in the picture also.  Dang.  But we still had sooooo much fun!!  We even went on our very own Turkey Hunt around the school campus!  That sneaky turkey was showing up all over the place, and then running and hiding again.  We finally found him after lunch, and what a celebration we had!!  The Super Kinder Kids were so excited (and loud) that we brought other teachers out of the building to see what was going on!  lol

In addition to this blog, I have also recently started an adventure with TpT.  There seems to be a giant sale going on this Monday and Tuesday.  I am totally participating!  This is my first sale and I am super excited!  While on the forums this morning I found a fellow TpTer at Surfing to Success giving away this super cute TpT Cyber Sale button!

Cute button, huh?  I assume there's a way to add an actual link to it, but I'm still a total beginner.  If you would like to visit my Teachers Pay Teachers store, you can follow my link below:

It's Turkey Week!!

Hooray for Turkey Week!!  I love Thanksgiving!  And I totally can't wait to stuff myself full of food on Thursday.  Food makes me happy.  I love food so much, my classroom and the classroom next to me had a pie tasting party last Friday.  We also made Friendship Mix.  The Kindergarteners LOVED it!  Them seem to like food a lot too.  And so do the ants that I found in my room yesterday.....  But no worries.  All taken care of before the kids returned to school this morning.

So we only have school on Monday and Tuesday this week.  I decided we were going to jam pack all our time with Thanksgiving crafts and activities since so many of the students were out of town.  We had a family project the kids did over the weekend that we shared in class today.  How cute those turkeys turned out to be!!  I had to pin them up on our wall!!

We also worked on putting some letters in alphabetical order - Pilgrim style!

Hmmmmmm those pictures weren't sideways in my file before I added them.....  SOOOOO much to learn!  The Kindergarteners really enjoyed their Pilgrim Hats.  This is one of my freebies at my TpT store.  Pilgrim Hats and ABC Order  (Whoo hoo!  My first link!  I will have to check that later to make sure it works...)  It took a little longer than I had hoped, but by the time we were all done, they looked GREAT!!!

We also made Tall Paul Pilgrims.  I'm not sure where he comes from as he was passed down to me from another teacher a few years ago, but he is super cute with wonky arms.  I will have to take a pic of him tomorrow when I go to the classroom.  Can't believe I forgot to get one today!!  Ugh.

Well, I figured out how to follow other blogs today!  So I am off to follow some more!  Having all those blogs listed in one place is sooooo much better than having to search through my favorites!  I'll be back tomorrow!!

Clip art and classroom pictures

Happy Saturday!  I stayed up REALLY late last night!  Usually I am in bed by 9pm, however, last night I discovered how to create my own clip art.  Yay! So, I stayed up until 4am creating clip art to use in my worksheets for school.  So excited to try them out.  Of course, I may use my kids for practice this weekend, just to make sure they work...  haha

Now that I am up and awake, I have decided to share some pictures of my classroom.  They are the dreaded before and after pictures.  I spent a lot of time trying to paint and reinvent the classroom before school started.  I really like the results.  It pleases me.  This will also give me a change to see how to actually add pictures on to this thing.  Especially since I haven't figured anything else out just yet...  Gotta start somewhere!

So those are two pictures from my classroom last year.  I like the room, but I thought that a Kindergarten classroom should be more colorful, bright, and happy.

I LOVE my bright yellow wall!  Obviously, this is before I set up the classroom!

I saw this idea on Pinterest.  Turning the side of a file cabinet into a magnetic board is SUCH a good idea!  I think I got the alphabet cards from TpT, but I boardered them with animal print card stock.  Super cute.

This is my reading area.  My mom bought me the red shag carpet.  My mom rocks!

These drawers were dark green and chipped last year.  I gave them a make over.

I saw this idea on Pinterest also.  It's a great dismissal chart and so helpful.

This is my red door.  My mom's idea.  She likes red.  My kids love the door too.  Every time they draw a picture of the classroom, they include the door!  lol  On the sides of the picture you can see my green math self and one of the red cubbies for the students.  These pieces of furniture also received a make over before school started.  I was a painting champion!!

Well I am off to complete more work!  Enjoy the weekend!

My First Kindergarten Blog!

I have never ever ever had my own blog before!  This is my first blog post, and I have a feeling I have a LOT of things to learn and figure out!  So here goes......

I have spent the last few years reading and visiting numerous teacher blogs trying to find fun activities for my Kindergarten classroom.  There are sooooo many great blogs out there, and I got sooooo many great ideas!  My classroom activities are currently 40% teacher blog inspiration, 40% pinterest, and 20% regulation.  What I have decided is that since I worship the blog universe and utilize blogger ideas in my classroom so often, that creating my own blog would be a great way to keep all these resources in one place.  Not only that, but I could ask for ideas, receive advice on how to improve lessons/activities/classroom organization, and maybe even help other teachers the way that blogs have helped me!  Great idea, right?  Now all I have to do, is figure out how to work a blog....  haha  Wish me luck!!
